第７回京大デザイン心理学講演会
この度、英国マンチェスター大学のMatthew A. Lambon Ralph教授にご講演いた
だくことになりましたのでご案内申し上げます。Lambon Ralph教授は、同大学心
理科学部のNARU (Neuroscience and Aphasia Research Unit)を率いて、言語処
理に関する神経心理学的・神経科学的研究を進めておられます。今回のご講演で
は、意味制御（semantic control）と認知制御 (cognitive control)の関係を検
討した近年の研究成果をご紹介いただきます。どうぞお気軽にご参加ください。

Title: The relationship between semantic cognition and cognitive
control: A convergent cognitive-clinical neuroscience approach
Speaker: Prof. Matthew A. LAMBON RALPH (University of Manchester)
Abstract: Semantic cognition (semantically-driven verbal and nonverbal
behaviour) requires a combination of semantic representation and
executive mechanisms to generate time- and context-appropriate semantic
behaviour. Comparative studies of patients with semantic dementia and
semantic aphasia have indicated that these core components of semantic
cognition dissociate and are linked with the anterior temporal lobe and
a frontoparietal network, respectively. These conclusions have been
supported by functional neuroimaging and transcranial magnetic
stimulation studies. The frontoparietal network overlaps partially with
the neural network established for cognitive control. Thus in recent
work we have begun to formally investigate the relationship between the
two systems in an attempt to establish how cognitive control mechanisms
contribute to semantic cognition.
