Michael A. Webster教授 (Dept of Psychology, University of Nevada)
Title: Adaptation and Visual Experience
Abstract: Visual sensitivity is highly adaptable, adjusting rapidly to the properties of the scenes that we are currently viewing. These adjustments are important for calibrating visual coding and maintaining perceptual constancy, and probably influence all perceptual judgments. The consequences of adaptation will be illustrated by showing how the visual system adjusts to changes in the environment (e.g. to new colors or faces) or the observer (e.g. during development or aging). These examples show that how the world looks depends - to a surprisingly large extent - on what you have recently been looking at.
